Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church manifests the standard of Christian living. Our church was founded in Anniston, AL in 1880. For more than 137 years, we have been bringing people closer to God.
Our Mission
The mission of the Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church (SSMBC) is to lead all people to a relationship with Jesus Christ, to demonstrate the standard of Christian Living, to connect with all people through discipleship and outreach, and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Shepherd
Reverend Jeffrey Earl Mills, M.Ed., M.Div.
Visionary focus toward advancing the family of God through five spiritual ministry principles: Making Effective Discipleship, Providing Effective Ministry Services, Promoting Effective Ministry Facilities, Encouraging True Partnerships among Families, and Pastoral Leadership through love. His vision focuses on staying true to God’s Holy Word for fulfilling the plan of redemption of the human race through Jesus Christ our Lord. By the power of God’s word, ministry is centered on Biblical truths which brings reconciliation to God’s people, (2 Corinthians 5:14-21), and thereby enlarges upon the legacy of Seventeenth Missionary Baptist Church.
